Presbyterian Ladies' College, Melbourne (PLC Melbourne) was founded in 1875 and is one of Australia’s finest day and boarding schools for girls.
PLC Students have a choice to study either the Victorian Certificate of Education or the International Baccalaureate, both of which are nationally and internationally recognised qualifications.
The College is situated in a predominantly residential suburb, 15 kilometres east of Melbourne. All facilities are located on a single 16-hectare, park-like campus. They include Senior and Junior Schools, Early Learning Centre, Boarding House, Music School, Library and Information Resource Centre, Computer Labs, Gymnasium, heated indoor Aquatic Centre and numerous ovals, playing fields, hockey turf, tennis and netball/basketball courts. PLC’s on-campus Boarding House provides a friendly, supportive home to girls from country Victoria, interstate and overseas. Boarders are cared for by the full-time Heads of Boarding, a qualified nursing sister, and understanding resident staff who are familiar with the needs and concerns of teenage girls. Boarders have access to the College’s extensive recreational and sporting facilities as well as the Library and computers for study needs.
The College aims to provide breath, strength, balance and quality of education for the purpose of encouraging leadership, service and life-long personal development and learning. There are experienced, specialist staff work in co-operation with classroom teachers to provide extension, enrichment and support for students.
PLC offers students a wide choice of co-curricular activities to complement their academic and personal development. These include music, sport, drama, debating, chess, theatre sports and a range of special interest clubs and groups. Parents at PLC do not need to purchase a laptop computer for their daughter. PLC provides an integrated system of desktop and laptop computers.
