Alina - World Champion in Service Skills 2015

Year 3 student, Alina Sile took home the gold medal from World Skills 2015, the world's largest education and skills competition held in Brazil. 

As a hotel management student, Alina's degree studies at Shannon College include training across a range of professional areas including restaurant service, culinary studies, accommodation services, food science and front office. 

The unique ethos and study environment at Shannon College ensures students develop a high level of professionalism before they graduate. 

According to Mr Andrew Langfor, Lecturer in Food and Beverage studies, Alina's professionalism was a deciding factor in taking the gold medal.

"Alina's maturity, industry experience and dedication to her training all came together on the world stage and it was a combination of all these elements that saw her win the gold medal."
